Apposite means that something fits the moment or the topic unusually well. Though actually, you almost always use it of language: a remark, a quote, an example, a comparison. An apposite comment is not merely polite or roughly on topic — it feels as if it was made for that exact point. It is a , slightly formal word. Essay writers, , and careful speakers use it; you would not often hear it at the night market. Everyday English says apt, fitting, or just right. It looks like opposite, but it does not mean “the other way round.”
