Moving in the opposite direction to the hands of a clock — the way a circle goes left if you face it. It can sit before a noun (an anticlockwise turn) or after a verb (spin it anticlockwise). Though actually, this is the British word. In American English the everyday word is , same idea with counter- instead of anti-. Taiwan textbooks and science class may show either English word; the Chinese everyone already knows is 逆時針. Clocks still “run ,” so this word is always the other way from that.
