In the Christian religion, a great enemy of Christ who stands for the power of evil and is expected to appear just before the end of the world. English usually it with a capital A, like a title or a name. Churches, the Bible, and stories about the last days use it in that serious sense. Though actually, people also stretch it. Some speakers pin the word on a person or a power they believe is fighting Christ — and in conspiracy talk you will even hear the United Nations named that way, as if a world body were that enemy. That is fear and argument, not a fact everyone agrees on. It is not the same as anti-Christian, which just means against Christians or Christianity in a general way.
組成From Middle English Antecrist, from late Old English Antecrist, from Late Latin antichrīstus, from Ancient Greek ἀντίχριστος (antíkhristos). By surface analysis, anti- (against) + Christ. The modern spelling was shaped to look more like the Latin form.
