Anarchic describes a place or a stretch of time with no real rules, no one in charge, and a lot of mess — or people simply not following the moral rules of the group. A classroom can feel anarchic if everyone shouts and nobody listens; a country can be called anarchic when law and order have broken down. Newspapers use it with a worried tone. Though actually it is also tied to , the political idea of living without a government; so in a class anarchic can mean “of anarchists / of that belief,” not only “chaotic.” In casual talk, people stretch it to mean “wild and disordered,” even when nobody is thinking about .
