Amity means friendship — but you almost never say it about two . It is a formal, slightly old or diplomatic word, used especially for friendship between countries, or a public wish for peace and goodwill. Treaties and speeches like “peace and amity.” In ordinary talk, people just say friendship or good relations. If you tell a friend “we have amity,” it will sound like a joke or a very stiff textbook.
