Allurement is the same kind of pull as : a mysterious, , or desirable quality, or a thing that carries that pull. The extra -ment makes it sound like a noun from an older book — “the allurements of the city,” “resist allurement.” Today most people just say , or temptation, or attraction. You will still meet allurement in literature, essays, and rather formal talk. It is not wrong in speech; it is simply stiffer. It can name the quality itself, or the bait that holds it.
