    Someone whose job is to act in plays, films, or TV shows.

    「actor」是「在戲劇、電影或電視裡演出的人」，中文叫「演員」。可以想成「在台上或鏡頭前扮演角色的人」。現在 actor 男女都能用；以前女演員叫 actress，但很多人現在男女一律用 actor。

You can think of an actor as someone who steps into another person's life and 'becomes' them in front of an audience — speaking their words, feeling their feelings, for a play, film, or show.
