Yogalates is an exercise class that mixes yoga with Pilates. From yoga it takes the poses, the stretching and the attention to breathing; from Pilates it takes the work on the deep stomach and back muscles that hold your body steady. People choose it when they want to be both flexible and strong, and it is popular with beginners because it is gentler than many gym classes. The word is quite new and belongs to gyms, studios and their — it is a marketing word more than a dictionary word, and you will see it on a class list far more often than in a book. It began as a trademark, spelled Yogalates by the Australian teacher who coined it, but many places now spell it yogalates or yogilates and use it loosely for any yoga-and-Pilates mix. It takes a singular verb: "Yogalates is on Tuesdays."
瑜伽皮拉提斯(把瑜伽和皮拉提斯結合的健身課程,健身房課表上常直接寫 Yogalates 或「瑜伽提斯」)
組成A blend — two words squeezed into one: yoga + Pilates, keeping the front of one and the back of the other. Pilates itself is a person's family name, Joseph Pilates, who invented that method.
