- 1
An old-fashioned past form of the verb "work," now only used in a few fixed expressions. "Wrought iron" is iron that has been shaped and into decorative shapes, like an old iron gate or fence. "Wrought havoc" or "wrought damage" means caused a lot of destruction or chaos. You won't hear "wrought" used as a normal past tense of "work" anymore - only in these set phrases.
(古語)work 的過去式,現在只用在固定片語,如 wrought iron(鍛鐵)、wrought havoc(造成嚴重破壞)。
組成An old irregular past form of "work."
