Describing a line or shape that is not straight but has lots of small curves in it — the kind of line a child draws for a snake or for water. It is the visual meaning you will meet most: 'a wiggly line', 'wiggly hair', 'wiggly noodles'. It also describes a thing or creature that will not keep still: 'a wiggly baby', 'wiggly worms'. The word feels light and , so it is at home in classrooms, picture books and family talk, and out of place in a technical report, where you would write 'wavy', 'irregular' or 'undulating' instead. Note the small spelling change: wiggle loses its final -e before -y, so it is wiggly, not 'wiggley'. English has a family of these playful -y words built the same way — , jiggly, wobbly, — and they all carry that same not-quite-serious feeling.
組成wiggle + -y. The -y ending makes an adjective meaning 'having that quality' or 'full of that'. The silent -e of wiggle drops out before it.
