The adverb of whole-hearted: doing something with all of yourself in it, holding nothing back. You attach it to a verb rather than a noun — 'I whole-heartedly agree', 'she threw herself whole-heartedly into the job', 'he apologised whole-heartedly'. In real use it clusters around a small set of verbs: agree, support, recommend, endorse, embrace, apologise, and 'throw yourself into'. It is a way of saying 'completely' that also says 'and I feel it', which is why it turns up so often in recommendations and in public agreement — a reference letter will say 'I whole-heartedly recommend her'. Slightly formal and quite warm. In everyday speech a student would more likely hear '100%' or 'totally'. Written both with the and as one word, 'wholeheartedly'.
組成whole-hearted + -ly. The '-ly' is the ordinary English ending that turns a describing word into a how-word: quick → quickly, whole-hearted → whole-heartedly.
