Wet-look describes clothes, shoes, or hair that shine as if water were on them, though they are completely dry. It is an adjective and goes before the noun: wet-look leggings, a wet-look jacket, wet-look boots, wet-look gel. The shine usually comes from a coated or plastic-like material — shiny fake leather, vinyl, or a very smooth nylon — and the whole point is the wet, glossy surface. For hair, wet-look means hair styled with gel or wax so it stays sleek and shiny, as if you had just come out of the shower; "wet-look gel" is a product name you will see in shops. The word belongs to fashion and beauty writing and to shop labels rather than to serious writing, and it has a slightly dated feel to some people — it was very fashionable in the 1960s and again in the 1980s, and it comes back every few years. It is normally written with a hyphen and used only before a noun; people do not usually say "her jacket is wet-look", though you may hear it.
