Weatherproof means built or treated so that bad weather cannot get through or spoil it. A weatherproof jacket keeps the rain and wind out. Weatherproof paint on a wooden door stops the sun and rain from ruining it. Weatherproof shoes will survive a wet walk to the MRT. The -proof half is the useful part: it means 'safe against, cannot be beaten by' that thing. Waterproof = water cannot get in. Fireproof = fire cannot destroy it. Weatherproof is the wider one — not only rain, but wind, sun, cold, damp, all of it together. So weatherproof and waterproof are not the same, though shops mix them up happily. Waterproof is the stronger promise about water specifically: you could stand in heavy rain, or in some cases go under water. Weatherproof is a broader but softer promise: it will hold up outdoors in normal bad weather. A weatherproof jacket in a typhoon will still let you get wet. When you buy something, look for which word is on the label. It is also a verb: to weatherproof something is to do the work of making it weatherproof — sealing the windows, oiling the wood, taping the gaps before winter.

防風雨的、耐候的；動詞是「做防水防風處理」。台灣賣衣服常寫「防潑水」——那其實比 waterproof（防水）弱，比較接近 weatherproof 的意思。
