人跟人之間回暖
英文長期把人跟人的距離當成溫度來講：疏遠是 cold，親近是 warm。把核心那個「熱正在進來」的畫面放到兩邊人之間，就是關係開始回暖。這是用法上的連結，不是說這個意思在歷史上比較晚才長出來。

Wiktionary records warming as warm plus -ing, going back through Middle English warmyng to Old English wærming. The ending is what turns the change into a thing you can name, count and measure.
Wiktionary 記載 warming 就是 warm 加上 -ing，經中古英文 warmyng，一路回到古英文 wærming。-ing 的作用是把「變暖」這個動作變成一件可以命名、可以測量的事。所以 the warming of the ocean 字面上就是「海洋變暖這件事」。
