The two-letter code for the American state of Vermont, in the north-east of the United States next to Canada. You see it in addresses on ('Burlington, VT 05401'), on forms, in weather reports, and on lists of states — anywhere space is tight. Every US state has one of these two-letter codes, set by the post office, and they are always written in capitals with no full stops. Nobody says 'vee-tee' when talking about the state; they say 'Vermont'. Be careful, because these same two letters are used for other things in other places — in British television work 'VT' means videotape, and in Taiwan people mostly meet 'VT' as part of other abbreviations. Here it means only the state.
組成The first and last letters of Vermont. The state's name itself comes from French 'vert mont', green mountain — which is why people call it the Green Mountain State.
