Vintage first meant the year a wine was made, and how good that year's wine turned out — 'a 1990 vintage' is wine made in 1990. From there it grew into a bigger idea: something old, from the past, but valued for its quality or style, not just because it's old. 'Vintage clothes' or 'a vintage car' are old in a good way, worth collecting or — unlike an item that's simply old and worn out.
vintage 原本指葡萄酒的年份，例如「a 1990 vintage」就是 1990 年釀的酒，也指那一年的酒好不好。後來詞義延伸，指來自過去的老東西，但因為品質或風格而值得珍惜，不只是因為舊。
所以你會看到「vintage clothes」（復古衣服）、「a vintage car」（經典老車）這樣的說法，形容舊得好、值得收藏或欣賞的東西。只是舊、又破又舊的東西，就不叫 vintage。
