A vegeburger is a flat round patty made from vegetables, beans, grains or soya instead of meat, cooked and usually eaten in a bread bun like a hamburger. It is also the name for the whole sandwich — the patty plus the bun — so if someone says "I ordered a vegeburger", they may mean either. The word is British and now sounds a little dated; you will see it on old menus and in older cookbooks. Today most people say 'veggie burger', or, if the patty is made from plant protein designed to taste like beef, 'plant-based burger'. Note that a vegeburger has no meat, but it is not always suitable for vegans — the patty or the sauce may contain egg or cheese. The spelling moves around: vegeburger, veggie burger, vegey burger. All are the same thing.

蔬食漢堡／素漢堡。台灣店家菜單上多半寫「蔬食漢堡」或「素食漢堡」，口語就說「素的漢堡」。要小心：台灣的「素」常常是不吃蛋奶的全素，但英文的 vegeburger 只保證沒有肉，可能有蛋有起司，跟台灣人聽到「素」的預期不一樣。
