A vector is something that has both a size and a direction — like "5 kilometers, going north." Scientists and math teachers use it to show forces, movement, or wind. In biology, a vector is also an animal (often an insect) that carries a disease from one living thing to another — for example, a mosquito is a vector for malaria.
