Vaduz is the capital of Liechtenstein, the very small country between Switzerland and Austria. Being a name, it always takes a capital V.
It is small even for a capital — around five thousand people live there, fewer than in many single apartment blocks in . It sits by the river, with a castle on the above the town where the prince of Liechtenstein actually lives. The country's government offices, banks, and museums are all here.
One useful thing for students: Vaduz is a capital city, but it is not the country's largest town — Schaan next door has more people. So if a test asks "what is the capital of Liechtenstein", the answer is Vaduz; if it asks about the biggest town, be careful.
In English you say it roughly "fah-DOOTS", with the stress on the second part. The letter z here sounds like ts, as it does in German.
