- 1V-1 飛彈／飛行炸彈（二戰德國的無人飛彈，英國人俗稱「嗡嗡彈」）
The V-1 was a small pilotless flying bomb that Nazi Germany launched at Britain and Belgium in 1944 and 1945, near the end of World War II. It was an aircraft with no crew: a jet engine on top, a in the nose, and a simple mechanism that cut the engine after a set distance so the whole thing fell and exploded. Because of that, it made a loud buzz on the way in — and then a silence just before it hit. British people nicknamed it the doodlebug or the buzz bomb, and the phrase "waiting for the engine to stop" comes from those months. Roughly ten thousand were at London alone. Historians treat it as the of today's cruise missile, and it is often mentioned together with the V-2, which was a true rocket and gave no warning at all. Write it with a capital V and a : V-1, plural V-1s. Say it "vee-one."
組成V-1 = V + 1. The V is from German Vergeltungswaffe, "retaliation weapon" — a weapon of revenge — and the 1 marks it as the first of that series. The V-2 rocket was the next one.
