1. 1

Unwaveringly is the adverb of unwavering: doing something in a completely steady way, without hesitating, or changing. It describes HOW an action is done — unwaveringly loyal, unwaveringly supported her, stared unwaveringly at the door. It sits before an adjective (unwaveringly honest) or with a verb (he unwaveringly refused). The idea is the same as unwavering: something that could have wobbled did not. She unwaveringly refused to sign means people pushed her, and she still said no every time. It is a formal, written word, more common in journalism, speeches and biography than in conversation. Plain everyday English would be "without ever changing his mind" or "he never once backed down". Because it is long and heavy, good writers use it — once in a paragraph, at the moment they most want to praise someone's steadiness. Used too often it starts to feel like decoration. And like unwavering, it keeps the physical meaning too: to look at someone unwaveringly is to hold your eyes on them without moving away.
