Better than anything or anyone else — so good that nothing has ever gone past it. "Surpass" means to go beyond, to do better than; so "unsurpassed" means nobody has managed to do better. It is a strong, formal, admiring word, and you meet it most in writing: advertising, travel guides, museum labels, sports reporting, book reviews. "The view from the top is unsurpassed." "Her record remains unsurpassed after forty years." You can add a phrase to say in what way: "unsurpassed in quality", "unsurpassed for comfort", "unsurpassed by any modern player". Two things worth noticing. First, it is quieter and more careful than "the best": it says nothing has beaten this, which leaves a small door open for something equal. That is why records are described this way — a record can be matched without being surpassed. Second, because it is a marketing favourite, it can sound empty when a company uses it about its own products; native speakers half-ignore "unsurpassed customer service" the way we ignore "世界第一" on a shop sign. Used about something real — a view, a record, a piece of music — it still carries full weight.
