Unreported means nobody told about it — either nobody told the police, the office, the government or whoever should have been told, or the news never carried it. Two everyday settings. First, official reporting: "most of these crimes go unreported", "unreported income" is money you earned but did not tell the tax office about. Second, news: "the protest went largely unreported" means the newspapers and TV said almost nothing about it. Notice how often it appears with the verb go: go unreported, go unnoticed, go unpunished. That pattern — go + un-word — is worth learning as a whole, because it is the natural way English says "this happened, and nobody did the thing you would expect". The word carries a quiet judgement most of the time. Saying something went unreported usually hints that it should have been reported and was not, and that this matters. It is neutral in shape but rarely neutral in use. It normally describes events, crimes, cases, numbers, money — not people. A person is not unreported; their accident might be.
