In a way that is not fair — the adverb of 'unjust'. It nearly always describes something done TO a person by someone with power over them, and it very often sits with a small set of verbs: unjustly accused, unjustly , unjustly treated, unjustly dismissed, unjustly punished. Notice how many of those are passive: the person is on the receiving end. It is a formal, weighty word, at home in history, law, news and religious writing, and it carries a clear sense of moral wrong, not just bad luck. In ordinary conversation people say 'unfairly' instead; 'unjustly' would sound rather grand for a queue or a school test.
組成unjust + -ly (the ending that turns an adjective into an adverb). Inside: un- (not) + just, the old adjective meaning 'fair, according to law', from Latin iustus, from ius 'law, right'.
