In a way that is too much for the mind to picture. It is nearly always put in front of an adjective to push that adjective as far as it will go: unimaginably rich, unimaginably far away, unimaginably cruel, unimaginably small. Think of it as a stronger, more literary of "extremely". Because it is strong, it loses its power if you use it often; good writers save it for the one thing in the paragraph that really is beyond normal scale — the size of a galaxy, the suffering of a war, the fortune of a king. Like the adjective, it works for both good and bad things. It is a written word more than a spoken one; in conversation people say "unbelievably" or just "so".
組成unimaginable + -ly. -ly makes an adjective into an adverb — a word that tells you how much or in what way.
