This is the adverb from 'unflinching' — it tells you how someone did something: without pulling back, without it, without looking away.
It attaches to verbs in two main patterns. With verbs of facing or looking: she stared unflinchingly at the camera, he faced the crowd unflinchingly. With verbs of speaking, writing, or showing: the report unflinchingly describes what the soldiers did, the film unflinchingly shows life in the factory. That second pattern is the common one in modern writing — a book or film reviewer's favourite word for praising someone who refuses to make an ugly subject prettier.
A third pattern is 'unflinchingly + adjective', as in 'unflinchingly honest', 'unflinchingly direct'. Here it works like 'completely' but with the added meaning that being this honest took nerve and probably cost something.
It is a formal, written word. You will meet it in reviews, essays, and serious journalism far more than in conversation.
