Undiminished means still just as strong, just as great, just as much as before — nothing has been worn away. The word carries time inside it: you can only call something undiminished if it has been through something that might have reduced it. That is the whole point. Years pass, an illness comes, the fashion changes, and yet the thing holds. So you meet it most with words for strength and feeling and standing: undiminished energy, undiminished enthusiasm, undiminished affection, undiminished popularity, undiminished power. "Her enthusiasm was undiminished after forty years of teaching" quietly says forty years should have flattened it, and did not. It sits at the end of a sentence with be, remain, or continue far more often than in front of a noun: "his interest remained undiminished". You will also see "undiminished by" — undiminished by age, undiminished by defeat — naming the thing that failed to shrink it. The word is warm; it almost always praises. It is written English — newspapers, obituaries, formal speeches — and would sound heavy in conversation, where people say "as strong as ever" or "hasn't faded at all".
