Uncritically is the adverb: it describes doing something without stopping to weigh it up or look for faults. It attaches to verbs of taking things in and passing them on — you accept, believe, repeat, follow, quote, share or reproduce something uncritically. 'She repeated the figures uncritically' means she passed them on without once asking whether they were true. Like the adjective, it carries quiet ; the speaker is saying that a check should have happened and did not. Remember that 'critically' here means 'with careful judgement', not 'harshly' — so uncritically is about a missing step in your thinking, not about being nice to people. The word usually sits right after the verb, or before it: 'accepted uncritically', 'uncritically accepted'. Both are fine. It is a formal word, common in academic writing, journalism and teaching, where it names a specific bad habit: taking a source at face value. In everyday speech people say 'she just believed it' or 'he didn't even question it'.
組成uncritical + -ly, the ending that turns an adjective into an adverb. Inside it, un- ('not') + critical, from Greek krinein 'to separate, to decide' — the idea of pulling something apart so you can judge the pieces.
