1. 1

Ultraportable describes a computer — or a printer, a speaker, a monitor — that is unusually small and light, made so that carrying it around all day is easy. It is mainly an adjective: "an ultraportable laptop", "this model is ultraportable". It is also used as a noun for the machine itself ("she travels with an ultraportable"), though that use is narrower and sounds more like tech writing. The word lives in product descriptions, reviews, and shop websites much more than in speech. If you tell a friend about your computer you will probably say "it's really light" or "it's tiny"; the shop selling it says "ultraportable". So it is a selling word, and like most selling words it is vague — nobody agrees on a weight limit. Roughly, people mean under about 1.5 with a screen around 12 or 13 inches, but nothing enforces that. Also notice what the word does not promise: small and light often means a small screen, fewer ports, and sometimes a slower chip. A good ultraportable is expensive precisely because being both tiny and powerful is hard. And unlike Ultrabook, this one is not a brand — anyone may use it about anything they carry.
