A trustafarian is a young person whose family is rich — the money comes from the family, not from work — but who dresses and lives as if they were poor because that looks cool. Think of someone with long messy hair, old clothes, no job, travelling around, talking about how money does not matter, while a family fund quietly pays for everything. The word is a joke word and it is not kind. When someone uses it, they are saying: this person is playing at being poor, and can stop any time, which real poor people cannot. That is where the sting is. It is a fairly new word and quite informal — you will see it in newspapers and hear it among young people in Britain and America, but it is not a word you would use in a serious essay or to someone's face. It is also not very common outside those countries, so many English speakers will not know it. Note that the word says nothing about a person's music or religion, even though the second half sounds like it does.
