1. 1

Transplantation is the process of moving something living from one place to another so it can keep growing or working there. In medicine, it usually means taking an organ - like a kidney, heart, or liver - from one person (or someone who has died) and putting it into another person's body, to replace one that isn't working. In gardening or farming, transplantation means digging up a young plant and moving it to a new spot in the ground so it has more room to grow.
