The activity or sport of jumping on a . It is an uncountable noun made from the verb, and it behaves like 'swimming' or 'cycling': you go trampolining, you take up trampolining, trampolining is good exercise. As a competitive sport it has been in the Olympics since the year 2000, and there it means something very demanding — athletes bounce many metres into the air and turn several somersaults before landing back on the same spot. But the same word covers the harmless version too: children at a birthday party at an indoor park are also trampolining. Because the word is simply the -ing form, it can also be the plain verb in a sentence — 'she was trampolining when she hurt her ankle' — and English does not mind which one you mean.
