1. 1

Trailblazing describes work, ideas, or people that go first and open a way for others. It is the adjective that matches trailblazer: trailblazing research, a trailblazing career, a trailblazing album. Two things are packed into it. First, newness — this had not been done before. Second, consequence — it changed what came after, because other people were able to follow. If you only mean "new", the plainer words are new, original, or unusual; trailblazing claims that the newness mattered. The word is , and it sits most comfortably in written English: journalism, award citations, museum labels, company profiles. You would rarely say it while chatting with a friend. Because it is such easy praise, businesses and press releases it, and readers here have learned to discount it a little — when everything is trailblazing, nothing is. Used honestly, though, it is a fine compliment, and it is at its best about things a generation later can point back to. There is also the verb form behind it, trailblaze, but almost nobody uses it; English speakers say "she blazed a trail" instead, keeping the two words apart the old way.

    開創性的、首開先河的;「開路先鋒(般)的」。中文的「創新」偏重「新」,這個字還多了「後人跟著走」的意思。
