To touch-type is to type without looking at the keyboard — your fingers know where the letters are, so your eyes stay on the screen or on the paper you are copying from.
To touch-type is就是 without looking at the keyboard不看鍵盤 to type打字—— your fingers你的手指 know where the letters are知道字母在哪裡, so所以 your eyes你的眼睛 stay on the screen可以一直看著螢幕, or on the paper you are copying from或看著你正在抄的稿子。
It is a verb: 'She can touch-type.' 'I learned to touch-type in high school.' The noun for the skill is touch-typing, and someone who does it is a touch-typist.
It is a verb它是動詞:'She can touch-type.'「她會盲打。」 'I learned to touch-type in high school.'「我高中時學會盲打。」 The noun for the skill這項技能的名詞 is touch-typing是 touch-typing, someone who does it會這項技能的人 is a touch-typist叫 touch-typist。
The word marks a real difference from what most people do, which is hunt for each key and press it with two fingers — that is called hunt-and-peck. Touch-typing means each finger has its own home key and never leaves its area.
The word marks這個字標出 from what most people do和大多數人打法之間 a real difference真正的不同: which is也就是 hunt for each key一個鍵一個鍵找, with two fingers用兩根手指 press it按—— that那種打法 is called hunt-and-peck叫 hunt-and-peck。 Touch-typing means的意思是 each finger每根手指 has its own home key有自己的基準鍵, never leaves its area而且不離開自己的區域。
It used to be a taught subject with a certificate at the end, and older speakers still treat it as a proper qualification you claim on a résumé. Younger people who grew up with keyboards often type fast without ever having learned the formal method, and they will still say they can touch-type, meaning simply 'I don't look down'. So the word has a little.
It used to be它以前是 a taught subject一門有人教的課, with a certificate at the end學完有證書, older speakers年長一輩 still treat it as仍然把它當成 you claim on a résumé可以寫進履歷的 a proper qualification正式資格。 who grew up with keyboards跟鍵盤一起長大的 Younger people年輕人, without ever having learned the formal method沒學過正式方法 often type fast也常常打得很快, they will still say they can touch-type而他們還是會說自己會盲打, meaning simply意思只是 'I don't look down'「我不用低頭看」。 So所以 the word這個字 has loosened a little已經鬆了一點。
Speed is not part of the definition, though in practice it is why people learn it.
Speed速度 is not part of the definition不在定義裡, though不過 in practice實際上 it is why people learn it人就是為了快才去學的。
組成touch + type. Here 'touch' means by feel alone — the same 'touch' as in touchless and touchpad, the sense of knowing something through the fingers rather than the eyes. 'Type' is to press keys on a keyboard, from the metal letter blocks (types) in old printing.
