    A torrent is a very strong, fast-moving stream of water, like a river in a heavy storm. It's often used figuratively for a huge, fast flow of something else — 'a torrent of questions,' 'a torrent of abuse' (a lot of angry words all at once). In computing, 'a torrent' also refers to a file shared through BitTorrent, a way of downloading files from many other users at once.
