To breathe in smoke from a marijuana cigarette; also the noun for one such pull of smoke — "he took a toke". This is casual slang, and it belongs to a specific world: young people, music, and people who smoke marijuana talking among themselves. It is not rude exactly, but it is very informal and it marks you as an insider, so it sounds strange from a stranger, a teacher, or in writing. Most common in American English, and it sounds a bit dated to some younger speakers now — more 1970s film than today's street. Remember that marijuana is illegal in Taiwan, so this is a word to recognise when you hear it in songs and films, not one to use.
