Togethering means going on holiday as one big group — not just you and your partner, but grandparents, aunts, cousins, or a whole circle of friends, all travelling and staying together. It is a fairly new word, made by treating together as if it were a verb, and it belongs to travel writing, hotel advertising, and newspaper lifestyle pages rather than to normal speech. Most English speakers have never used it, and some have never met it, so if you say it in conversation you may need to explain. When it does appear it usually sounds slightly commercial — a resort selling large rooms, an airline selling group bookings. If you simply want to say the ordinary thing, English speakers say a family holiday, a group trip, or a family reunion. Keep togethering for when you are reading about the travel industry, or when you want the specific idea of the multi-generation holiday as a trend.
