Everything involved in selling tickets and getting them to people — for flights, trains, concerts, films, matches. It is a business word: an airline has a ticketing department, a concert hall uses a ticketing system, a website advertises 'online ticketing'. It covers the whole arrangement, not one sale: prices, seats, refunds, the machines and software behind it. You will see it most often sitting in front of another noun (a ticketing agent, ticketing fees, a ticketing platform). In offices, 'ticketing system' has a second life that has nothing to do with events: when you report a computer problem, the help desk opens a numbered 'ticket' to track it, and the software that manages those is also called a ticketing system. Which meaning is live depends entirely on who is talking — an airline or an IT department.
