1. 1interj/ˈθæŋk ˌju/polite end to an answer(回答時的客氣話)謝謝

Added to a polite answer to someone's question about you or your day, to sound friendly and to close the answer .

I'm well, thank you.、Very nice, thank you.。

Example

'How was your trip to Tainan?' 'Very nice, thank you.'

Here you are not thanking the person for a thing. You are thanking them for asking. It normally comes at the end of the answer: I'm well, thank you. Very nice, thank you. Nothing would be lost from the information if you left it out, so it is doing social work rather than carrying meaning. That is what separates it from the grateful use, where there is always something real behind the thanks. It is common with strangers, shop staff, teachers and older people, and it makes a short answer sound warm instead of flat.

  2. 2interj/ˈθæŋk ˌju/I don't need your help (firm)(帶點不悅)不用你管

口語Said at the end of what you are saying to tell someone firmly that you do not want their help or advice, and that it is you a little.

I can manage on my own, thank you!。

The words are polite; the message is not. Put at the end of a sentence like I can manage on my own, thank you, it closes the subject. The speaker is saying: I am able to do this, stop helping. It usually comes after someone has kept offering advice or kept stepping in. Tone of voice and the sentence in front of it are what tell you which thank you this is, so it is worth listening for. Some speakers add very much to sharpen it further. Because it can sting, it is worth recognising before using it.

  3. 3interj/ˈθæŋk ˌju/showing you are grateful

Used to tell someone that you are grateful for something they have given you or done for you.

要講謝什麼,用 thank you for 加名詞或 V-ing。像 thank you for the shirt、thank you for coming。想更慎重就加 very much 或 so much。

This is the plain, everyday way to say you are grateful in English. It works for a small thing, like someone passing you the butter, and for a large thing, like someone travelling a long way to see you. To say what you are grateful for, add for and then a noun or an -ing form: thank you for the shirt, thank you for coming. To make it warmer, add very much or so much. Thanks is the lighter, more casual form and fits friends and family. Thank you is the safer choice with strangers, teachers, customers and older people, and it is the form you write in a card or an email.

  4. 4interj/ˈθæŋk ˌju/yes, please (accepting an offer)

Used as a polite way of accepting something that someone has just offered you.

或是加一句 that would be great。要拒絕的話,no 一定要說出來:No, thank you.。

Someone offers you a drink, a lift, or a hand with your bags. If you answer thank you on its own, English speakers normally hear that as yes. You are thanking them for the thing you are about to take. This matters because in some languages a bare thank you is a soft way of saying no. To make the yes completely clear, say Yes, thank you, or add a short line such as that would be great. To refuse, the word no has to be there: No, thank you. One small word is the whole difference between taking the offer and turning it down.
