    A person who comes from Thailand or lives there. It is countable: a Thai, two Thais.

    文法可數名詞：前面可以加 a/an，要表示複數時常常加 -s。

    Thai 當名詞指人的時候是可數的：a Thai、two Thais。不過日常英文更常說 a Thai person 或 Thai people，聽起來比較自然，也比較有溫度。直接用 Thais 指一整群人不算錯，在新聞和統計數字裡很常見。要講「我是泰國人」，一般說 I'm Thai，用形容詞，而不是 I'm a Thai。這個規則跟 Japanese、Chinese 很像，說 I'm Japanese 比 I'm a Japanese 自然得多。

    This use names the person rather than describing them. In everyday speech people more often say a Thai person or Thai people, which sounds warmer; the bare noun Thais turns up more in news writing and in numbers and statistics. To say where you are from, English normally uses the describing word: I am Thai.

    The language spoken in Thailand. It is closely related to Lao, the language of the country next to it.

    文法不可數名詞：通常不加 a/an，也不加 -s 來表示複數。

    講語言的時候 Thai 是不可數的，前面不加 a，也不加 the。要說「她會講泰語」就是 She speaks Thai。不要說 She speaks the Thai。要說「用泰語」可以用 in Thai：What does this say in Thai？泰語跟寮國的語言很接近，兩邊的人常常聽得懂彼此一部分的話。英文很多語言名稱跟形容詞長得一模一樣，Thai、Japanese、Korean 都是這樣，要從句子裡判斷是哪一個。

    When Thai names the language it is uncountable, so it takes no a and no the: she speaks Thai. To say what language something is written or said in, English uses in Thai. English often reuses the same word for the country's people, the describing word and the language, the way it does with Japanese and Korean.
