A taxicab is a car with a driver that you pay to take you where you want to go — in other words, a taxi. The meaning is exactly the same as taxi; only the feeling is different. Taxicab is the longer, older, more official form. You will find it in American writing, in city rules and licence documents, in newspapers, and in older films and books. Almost nobody says the whole word out loud when they want a ride; they say taxi, or cab, or in many places now they just name the app. So think of it as the full formal name of a thing that everyday speech has at both ends: keep the front and you get taxi, keep the back and you get cab. Both halves became words on their own. Americans lean towards cab; British speakers lean towards taxi, and in London the black ones are black cabs. There is also a verb 'to taxi', but that one belongs to moving slowly on the ground, not to cars.
組成Shortened from 'taximeter cab' — taxi + cab. The taximeter was the machine that measured the fare, and a cab was a hired carriage. So the name really means 'the hired carriage with the fare meter'.
