1. 1

Swop is simply another way of spelling 'swap' — to give someone your thing and take theirs. Same sound, same meaning, same grammar: you swop seats, swop phone numbers, swop stories; you can make a swop with a friend. The only difference is which letter you write. 'Swop' is British and now uncommon; 'swap' has won almost everywhere, including in Britain, so you meet 'swop' mostly in older books, older newspapers, and in the writing of older British people. Dictionaries still list it, which is why it appears here, but nothing is lost if you never write it yourself.
