A very large shopping centre — much bigger than a normal mall — usually built on cheap land outside a city, with hundreds of shops plus cinemas, restaurants, sometimes a hotel or a theme park inside. The idea is that you drive there, park, and stay the whole day. It is mainly an American word, and a marketing one: developers and newspapers use it to make the size sound impressive. Ordinary people, even in America, usually just say "the mall" and add "huge" if they need to. It is not a fixed measurement — nobody can tell you how many shops make a mall a supermall. In Taiwan the closest things are places like 台北101 or 微風, but we call those 購物中心 or 百貨公司; "supermall" is not a word people use in English about local places.
