Greater than any normal person could manage. You use it for strength, speed, patience, memory, effort — anything that a human being has, but pushed past the human limit. "She lifted the car off him with superhuman strength." "It took superhuman patience not to shout back." Most of the time we are on purpose, and both speaker and listener know it. Nobody really has superhuman patience. Saying it is a way of saying "far more than I could have done", with a bit of admiration in it. Very common with effort, strength, will, patience, calm, and with the phrase "a superhuman effort". It also has a literal use, in stories: gods, monsters, superheroes, ghosts. There it means the powers really are beyond human — not a compliment, just a description. "The creature had superhuman speed." The word is a bit grand, so it sounds slightly literary or dramatic in everyday talk. In a normal conversation people are more likely to say "" or "unbelievable". Save superhuman for when you want the sentence to feel big. Note it describes the ability, not the person: we say superhuman strength far more often than we call someone a superhuman. As a noun it is rare and sounds like science fiction.
