Stuttering is a way of speaking where sounds or words get stuck and repeat - like saying 'I... I... I want to go' without meaning to. Some people stutter their whole life because of how their brain and mouth work together; it is not something they choose, and it is not just about being nervous, though nerves can make it worse. People also use this word for other things that start and stop - a stuttering engine, a stuttering economy, a stuttering internet connection.
