Structuralist works two ways. As an adjective it describes anything belonging to structuralism — 'a structuralist reading of the novel', 'structuralist linguistics' — meaning the approach looks at how the parts of a system relate, and finds meaning there rather than in any single part on its own. As a noun it is the person who works that way: Saussure, Lévi-Strauss and Barthes are the names usually given. Notice what the word tells you about someone's method rather than their opinion: calling a scholar a structuralist says how they read, not what they believe about politics or life. In today's academic writing it often carries a faint 'that was then' feeling, because post-structuralist thinkers argued the approach was too tidy — so you will sometimes see it used almost as a criticism. Countable as a noun: a structuralist, two structuralists. No capital letter.

結構主義的（形容詞）；結構主義者（名詞）。指用「看整體關係、不看單一元素」那套方法的學者或分析方式，台灣課本就講「結構主義者」、「結構主義式的分析」。
