A stockist is a shop or company that keeps a certain product and sells it. If a company makes a shampoo, the shops that carry that shampoo are its stockists. The word looks at the shop from the maker's side: you are a stockist OF something, and that something is almost always another company's product. So you hear it most on a maker's website or on a package — 'for your nearest stockist, call this number' — and much less in normal talk. A person can be called a stockist too, but usually it means the business, not one worker. It is common in British English, and in Australia and New Zealand; Americans more often say 'retailer', 'dealer', or just 'where to buy'. It sounds a little formal and business-like. It does not mean the shop only sells that one thing — a big shop can be a stockist of hundreds of brands at the same time.
