The adverb of 'sorrowful': in a way that shows deep sadness. It tells you HOW someone does something — she shook her head sorrowfully, he sighed sorrowfully, they walked sorrowfully away. Notice that almost all its common partners are small visible actions: shaking the head, sighing, smiling, looking, nodding, speaking. That is the heart of the word. It is not really about the feeling inside; it is about the sadness being visible in the way the action is done. Like the adjective, it belongs to written English — stories, reports, translations of old texts. In everyday speech people say 'sadly', or just describe what happened: 'she looked really upset and shook her head.' One useful difference: 'sadly' has a second job that 'sorrowfully' does not have. 'Sadly, the shop closed' means 'it is sad that the shop closed' — the writer is commenting on the whole sentence. 'Sorrowfully' can almost never do that; it stays attached to the person doing the action. So 'Sorrowfully, the shop closed' sounds wrong, while 'He locked the door sorrowfully' is fine.
