Snidely describes HOW someone says something: unkindly, but sideways. A snide remark does not attack you directly — it slips the insult inside something that looks like an ordinary comment, or even a compliment. "Nice haircut. Very brave." That is snide. Said snidely, it means the speaker delivered it in that tone: a little amused, a little superior, pretending to be pleasant. Because the adverb tells you about the delivery, you almost always find it next to a verb of speaking — said snidely, added snidely, remarked snidely, or before one: he snidely suggested, she snidely asked. It is a writer's word more than a talking word. In real conversation people say "he was being really snide" or "that was a snide comment"; in novels and articles you meet "snidely". There is always a target. You cannot be snide about the weather — only about someone. And the person being snide usually feels clever about it, which is part of why the word sounds so cold. Note too that snide is not the same as rude. A rude person is loud and open; a snide person can smile the whole time, and that is exactly what makes it worse.

尖酸刻薄地、陰陽怪氣地（帶著假笑講出來的那種）。台灣學生講「陰陽怪氣」最接近 snidely 那種「表面在誇你、其實在酸你」的語感；書面上也可以說「語帶譏諷地」。注意不要直接翻成「壞心地」，那太粗，snide 的重點是「拐彎」而不是「兇」。
