    Sluggishly tells you how something moves or reacts: slowly, heavily, not as fast as normal. A river may move sluggishly in a hot, dry month. A tired student may answer sluggishly. Same idea as sluggish, but for the action, not for naming the thing itself. From sluggish plus -ly, the usual ending that turns that kind of describing word into a word about how something is done.
